You’re planning to upgrade your window treatments and want something that’s not those awful blinds in white, which are difficult to lift? Perhaps you’ve had poor-quality vertical blinds, and you’re thinking you’ll never wish to have the same thing again. There’s no reason to be ashamed of yourself. Window blinds are an excellent and flexible choice for almost every home.

Light Control

Slatted blinds for windows are the most efficient window treatment to provide light control since the slats are able to be tilted upwards or downwards, and then closed and opened. They provide the most flexible control of light and privacy. Blinds can be opened and closed, however light will only be absorbed by tiny patches, leading to a glare that’s not well diffused, making the edges of the room dark. Shades and blinds don’t suffer from this problem.

Blinds can also provide a good amount of privacy. We’ve all looked through the blinds to see who’s knocking at the door however, more importantly window blinds can also be swung upwards to let sunlight to enter without letting anyone in.

Energy Efficiency

Blinds for windows, as with most window treatments, can help improve the energy effectiveness of the home. They hold in air windows, acting as insulation, securing your home from heat loss and making it more easy to cool or heat. You’ve probably been told that windows are one of the largest energy drains within the home, and they are real! In the summer, heat and light are trapped in the windows, which makes it easier to cool your home while in winter the cold air is trapped and makes it much easier to warm the home.

Blinds are economical and are also the least expensive option for window treatments for your home. They are available in a variety of designs and colors, all in any price range.

Safety

In recent times, a large amount of attention has been directed to window blinds, claiming they are hazardous for pets and children. They are encased in slats and cords and aren’t able to get them out which can cause injuries and even the death of. But modern window blinds are designed with strict safety standards in mind to safeguard your family members from harm.

Blinds with cordless technology have been popular in recent years, as have motorized blinds that can be controlled by a remote. They can even be set to raise and lower at the time you wish them to. Hunter Douglas, in particular is a top brand to use for this.

Aesthetics

As people become more visually conscious, window blind makers have updated their designs to meet the latest trends. It’s not difficult to find blinds that look either made of wood or synthetic materials that look similar to wood. Wood blinds are a way to take what’s commonly thought to be an unappealing window covering and transform it into something elegant and timeless. Window blinds made of metal have an industrial, edgy look.

Wood blinds are at possibility of getting old in the light that enters through windows, however synthetic blinds do not have this problem and are more flexible. But, they are more sustainable. Visit the window treatment shop in your area to determine the most suitable solution for your home.

Cleanliness

Since all window blinds require to be cleaned is dusting and a spot cleaning, they’re among of the most clean kinds of window treatments. With no inconvenience of taking them out of the window to clean or the risk of wiping paper down using a damp cloth, window blinds are a great choice for cleanliness and ease of use. Be sure to clean your blinds at a minimum of every few months using dry cloths or a feather duster.

Alternatives

If you’re still not convinced that window blinds are the right choice for your needs, here are some similar alternatives you can consider. Gliding panels function similar to vertical blinds, however they’re bigger and appear more stylish. They are laid flat against the window when they’re closed, and when they’re opened they fold inwards for the best views. This is a great option for windows with large areas or doors to porches that require an original window treatment. These can also serve to create elegant, minimalist rooms partitions.

High Performance Blinds

Honeycomb shades or cell shades are also excellent alternative to blinds. Although they’re not as flexible to control light but they are more private and more efficient in insulation. There are top-down and bottom-up options to ensure privacy. Roman shades are a classy and timeless alternative to blinds for windows. They blend the beauty of blinds with the elegance of curtains, but they don’t let the same amount of light like blinds. Both of these shades aren’t as simple to keep tidy as blinds for windows are due to the fact that cell shades are typically composed of non-washable fabrics, and Roman shades aren’t able to be removed to be cleaned. They both offer excellent benefits as alternatives.
