Police Scotland have confirmed that a man has been arrested and charged after the bomb squad descended on a Lanarkshire street at the weekend.
Explosive ordnance disposal and multiple officers swarmed a property on West End Drive in Bellshill, where ‘items’ were discovered. Police removed the ‘items’ from the property safely.
A 45-year-old man has been arrested and charged following the incident, however, enquiries are still ongoing. The individual is due to appear at Hamilton Sheriff Court later today.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 2pm on Saturday, September 30, we were called to a disturbance at a property on West End Drive, Bellshill.
“Officers attended, items were discovered within the property and EOD attended. Enquiries remain ongoing however there is no wider risk to the public.

“A 45-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection with the incident and is due to appear at Hamilton Sheriff Court on Monday, October 2. A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
