Dr Punam Krishan appeared visibly upset during Saturday night’s Strictly Come Dancing live show, as she and professional partner Gorka Marquez experienced a disappointing setback, with their scores dropping significantly from the previous week.
The Glasgow GP and Morning Live star had previously impressed everyone in Movie Week, with an inspiring and excellently performed Couple’s Choice number to a song from a Bollywood film, marking a real first for Strictly.
The enthusiastic response from the BBC studio audience and positive feedback from the judges were mirrored in the impressive score of 33 out of 40. This week has seen Punam’s dance discussed globally, with it being hailed as a brilliant moment in Strictly history; this raised expectations for her performance on Saturday night, when she and Gorka performed a jive to Lizzo hit 2 Be Loved (Am I Ready?).

Unfortunately for the pair, while they were the stars of the ballroom seven days earlier, the reaction to their latest dance was far less favourable, reports Chronicle Live.
The first judge to comment, Motsi Mabuse told Punam and Gorka there ‘were too many mistakes’ suggesting that the ‘pressure’ of doing well last week may have got to her.
In a more critical tone, Craig Revel-Horwood described their jive as ‘messy and sloppy’, before adding insult to injury, by stating: “Not your night, I’m afraid.”
Punam was visibly shaken by the feedback, and as she approached Claudia Winkleman with Gorka, she admitted: “I tried my best. I think I’m quite a left brained person, so I think just trying to get all the footwork in….I tried my best. There were mistakes, hands up to that.”
The situation deteriorated further when the scores came in – a mere 20 out of 40, which was a staggering 123 points fewer than the previous week.
