If your boiler is in need of regular maintenance, is making odd noises, has trouble heating your home, or is fragile and susceptible to break down, it is likely that you need to replace one.

It’s fun to consider that you just need to go back in time to discover a time in which the central heating system and hot water upon demand weren’t widespread home appliances.

We’ve grown so used to warmth and cozy that when boilers fail to shut out it’s like a complete disaster. However, they won’t last for a long time, so if experiencing some issues with yours, it’s probably time to think whether I’m in need of an upgrade to my boiler?

There are signs that your boiler’s going to be a bit rusty

Odd noises. With ageing boilers, the parts may wear out, and although they can be replaced, it is often more economical to purchase a new boiler. If your boiler is producing noises that sound like popping, knocking or hissing sounds when it’s turned on, you must have an engineer to look into it and may be required to consider buying a new boiler.

It’s often in need of repair. It is recommended that you have your boiler regularly serviced by an approved professional plumber, or gas safety tech. They can offer recommendations in the event that the boiler is at it’s end service however if they need to continue replacing parts or the boiler is in need of continuous repair, it’s the time to consider replacing it.

It’s old. If the boiler you have is older than 10 years older,, it may be worth replacing it. Even if it’s working fine however, the more time passes the more likely to degrade. Additionally, it’s smaller in efficiency than a brand new boiler. Although buying a brand new boiler may seem like an expensive choice however, it could help save money over the long term because it heats your home more efficiently and also bringing the cost of gas to a lower level.

It is leaking. Any leaks should be investigated immediately, not just because the water could damage your home , but as well because it may develop into carbon monoxide leak which could be fatal.

The temperature of the water is variable. If hot water is slow to warm up, or if it runs cool and hot intermittently when running a bath or sink and you think you’ll should replace your boiler, if repairs do not make a difference to the situation.

How much will a modern boiler run?

The price for a brand new boiler is different, but it is only a fraction of the cost. The price for installing the boiler could be much higher or lower that the actual boiler.

Unfortunately, boiler installation isn’t an easy task to do yourself since all boilers have to be installed through Gas Safe registered engineers. The price of installation can vary in addition to the cost of the boiler due to the quantity of work needed as well as the quantity of extra components that are required, and the difficulty of installation. These factors all affect the final cost.

Many times, other components that make up the heater require replacement or upgrading such as pipes, radiators and valves.

What kind of boiler do I need?

While there are numerous types and brands of boilers but they all fall under two fundamental kinds. The type you require will depend on your heating system as well as other components.

Conventional boiler

A traditional boiler is connected to a tank, which holds hot water. Hot water tanks are linked to a cold tank, and they are generally installed in the loft area of your home. If the hot water tank is depleted, there’s some delay because it’s filled with the water of the cold tank. It is then it is heated.

Conventional boilers need more space, which might be an issue in the event that you don’t have a loft, but installing them is typically more challenging and thus more expensive than the combination boiler.

Combination boiler

Combi boilers do not require storage tanks, but instead use direct heat from your main water source. They offer hot water upon demand and are suitable for small homes. Typically , they are attached to the wall of the kitchen or in an airing cupboard, but they can be put anywhere in the room that is suitable.

Combi boilers usually need less pipes than traditional boilers. Therefore, installation process is generally simpler and more affordable.

Installation of the boiler

Before installing the boiler you must find the Gas Safe registered installer.

The technician will examine your home and provide you on the price and other elements that will affect the installation. The engineer will examine the entire heating system, and decide if you’ll need to repair or replace other components together with the boiler.

When the installation of your boiler process is easy If you’re getting an integrated boiler installed it will take around a day, however, the installer will provide you a precise timeframe in case it takes longer.

The technician will remove your boiler from the existing one and replace it with the new one. They will also replacing any other parts of your heating system as specified in the quotation for the work. In most cases, they will run a power flush to eliminate any debris, and conduct a thorough inspection of the boiler as well as the system and explain the functioning.

After this has been completed, the engineer will register your appliance on the Gas Safe Register. The registration must be completed within 30 days of the date it becomes valid. You should be issued a certificate on the Register. It’s legally required, so be sure you do it in a timely manner.

Boiler provides

ECO is a government scheme which provides free or subsidised boiler grants to households with low incomes. To qualify for one of the boiler grants, you must meet certain eligibility criteria on income and possess a non-condensing boiler which is at least five years older.

Boiler grants are not refunded and you’ll receive the boiler you want for free or at a fraction of its normal cost (including the installation). If you think you’re eligible, the requirements, visit the Boiler Grants website and fill out a simple application to determine if your qualified.
