Many motorists remain sceptical regarding the quality of service offered when it comes to having their cars repaired, according to new research indicates.
However, when it is about independent garages, most motorists will make the same choice repeatedly because they trust them perform well.
A survey carried out for the garage comparison site RAC Garage Compare highlighted strong trust in garages that provide an excellent service. 55% of drivers affirming that they had complete faith in the garage that they visited.
Millions of drivers rely on local garages that are independent to handle MOT and servicing requirements because they’re reliable and provide excellent workmanship.
According to the study 56% of motorists believe that reliability is the top priority in deciding on the repair shop and customer service, which is next with 19%, and the cost being third on the list priorities, with just 14% of respondents saying that this is the most important aspect.
That means that, contrary to what is commonly believed drivers don’t necessarily base their choice of an establishment’s price, but concentrate more on the quality and reliability of the garage.
The research by the RAC also revealed that people were willing to drive an extensive distance to repair shops because they provided high-end repairs. Five out of five drivers admitted they drove as far as 10 miles to reach the garage they frequented the most for repairs, while 10% of them would drive for as long as 20 miles.
The survey revealed that drivers were sceptical and anxious about garages they’d never visited before.
The RAC has introduced the RAC Garage Compare service to provide motorists with an idea of the way repair work is rated by their customers as well as where to get the best value for their money.
